Vera Orac

Keynote Speaker

A Toastmaster for over 12 years, Vera reached district level in the International Speech, Humorous Speech, Table Topics and Evaluation contests – won some, lost some, got disqualified for going over time …

When not competing, she has been the contest master for the district contest finals. Vera has given workshops at district conferences, club officer trainings, the Czech clubs’ residential weekend, and of course, in clubs. Outside Toastmasters, she dabbles in improv theater and stand-up comedy.

We’re looking forward to a funny keynote speech!

Ineke Vermeulen, DTM

Workshop: Humour is serious work! A workshop on finding and training your funny bone (English)

Human beings laugh a lot. It is one of the first things we learn as a baby – and even babies know how to use laughter to connect. If a smile is the shortest distance between two people, humor is the direct gateway to other people’s hearts and brains. We laugh to break the ice, we laugh to hide embarrassment, we laugh to relieve ourselves from various types of pressure and stress. Everybody is funny, and in this workshop, you will not only learn some insights into the workings of humor, you will also learn how to tell better jokes and to find your own humorous style. Better even: you will learn how to write your own funny material and jokes.

This is an interactive workshop, so be prepared to learn hard, work hard, and practice hard! Bring your favorite pen and a notepad, bring a bottle of water and a power bar, and most of all: bring a lot of energy. There will be a mix of instructive background information and exercises – it will be great fun and you should all be able to take home valuable new insights and content for your next humorous appearances.

About Ineke:
Ineke has been a Toastmaster for almost 10 years, she has been in various leadership positions and earned her DTM in 2014. She loves to work with others, helping to bring out the best in them; yet most of all: she absolutely adores being on stage, whether that’s a Toastmasters stage, on the comedy circuit in Munich, or at a business convention. When she’s not on stage, she’s probably lecturing, or you can find her creating strategic content for a large global IT player.

Workshop: Dein Thema – dein Leben (Deutsch)

Mikaela Gallon

Workshop: “Building Your Thinking Power, Part I, Mental Flexibility”

“Building Your Thinking Power” is a workshop designed to help participants develop their creative thinking abilities

“If it ain’t broke, why fix it?” … “We’ve always done it this way”… “This will never work!” ...  Any invention or idea that changed the world is the product of a spark of inspiration that pierced through the status quo. By increasing our mental flexibility, we can become better listeners and observers, better thinkers and problem-solvers. We can improve personal and professional relationships and challenge ourselves and others to rise above the status quo.

In this workshop, we will tinker with various ways of enhancing our mental flexibility, e.g by exploring new ways of looking at the world, ‘unlearning’ limiting thinking patterns, and increasing our conceptual fluency. Are you ready and up for the challenge?

About Mikaela:
Half French and half Maltese, Mikaela was born in the Caribbean and grew up in places as diverse as Argentina and South Africa, started her career in the USA and Japan before moving to Munich, Germany. Exposure to various cultures has honed her ability to adapt to new environments and situations, to connect people and connect dots. Her business background as a project manager, paired with a coaching training and seven years of Toastmaster experience cement her belief that challenging the status quo, taking risks and thinking outside standard frameworks enable individuals and teams to boost their creativity and achieve superior results, personally and professionally.

Justin Hegler

Workshop: Impro-Workshop (Deutsch)

Stephanie Hobert

Workshop: Why you should coach the ones you lead (English)

It’s a catch 22! You’re doing all the work, hence you don’t have the time to coach the people you lead. This leads to an incredible concentration of power on your side, as you are the single point of information … and the single point of contact for all questions. With this strategy you will gain more competencies, more power – more work and less quality in your work-life balance. You continue to isolate yourself from your club members/employees. Eventually you will create a bottleneck: yourself – that’s frustrating for you and your team.

This workshop is on how to create sustainable leadership, which will allow everybody in your team to grow. Including yourself! It’s about time to come to terms with some fossilized beliefs on leading and coaching.

About Stephanie:

Always having had a strong interest in diverse cultures, Stephanie spent a couple of years each in pre-internet and pre-mobile phone times in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
She was one of the first women with a trading permission on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and became a government bond trader in foreign currencies. She was the first market maker in South African government bonds, in which role she helped spark investors’ interest in a financially isolated South Africa, which was crucial for transitioning into the anti-apartheid government of Nelson Mandela.
During her years in Tokyo, she took part in a CNN documentary on Tokyo, wrote articles for the 3 big Japanese newspapers and put together check-lists and strategies for the expat community on earthquake preparedness. She held disaster prevention seminars for the US and the Australian embassy.
Until recently Stephanie was a process manager in an international company.
She is an ACS/ALB/SR2 and Area Director of Area D2. 4 years ago she discovered her passion for off-shore sailing regattas in big international teams, and finds it very complementary to Toastmasters.

Frauke Seitz

Workshop: Sketchnoting – faszinierend einfach (Deutsch)

Jeder schreibt. Kaum jemand zeichnet.

Tulia Lopes, DTM

Workshop: Transform Your Stage Presence with NLP (English)

  • Have you ever noticed that the most effective speakers, trainers, and teachers, are those with high energy and personal power?
  • What are they doing that is different?
  • How can you get those kind of results?
  • What do you have to do?

Being a good presenter means first of all, to feel good on your own skin. In other words, to feel comfortable about being yourself. We all know that our communication goes beyond our verbal communication. The way we experience life’s moments depends on how we perceive those moments from what we hear, see, feel (touch), and think.
In this workshop Tulia will invite you to explore new ways to see yourself as a speaker and presenter, and learn few NLP tricks on how to prepare the room for your training (both physically and energetically) to achieve the results you want.

After this training you will be able to:

  • Get into the “Trainer State”: Prepare and manage your inner state prior, and during, a talk or presentation
  • Build rapport from the stage, so you can get the audience to be willing to do what you ask them to
  • Identify and use the different ways of processing information
  • Map the stage and use appropriate spatial anchoring

About Tulia:
Tulia is a Communication Architect! She believes communication is the key to develop and excel in any field in life. She helps professionals, especially women, to de-construct their ineffective communication style and build one which exudes confidence and is fully aligned with their authentic talents.
In 2014 she founded the AWE Summit event to Give Voice to Women; and in 2017 she founded the Speak Up & Lead Academy – to help women to develop the communication skills needed to raise their profile, make them more promotable and position themselves as experts in their fields, and become world-class speakers.
The Stand Up & Speak Up Challenge (Munich & Zurich) bring on stage professionals from different backgrounds to challenge each other – and themselves – by getting a powerful message across in only 5 minutes.
Tulia is the author of Leading in High Heels, and an international speaker on topics of communication, leadership, diversity, and inclusion, and women’s impact. She is also an award-winning speaker at European level at Toastmasters International, and at the WinTrade event in London this year for the continuous work in supporting women to find, own and unleash their voices.
Her motto, “I’m a creator. If I don’t find a door, I build one.”
